The symposium will focus on fostering collaboration, innovation, and career development within the European Research Area (ERA). It will bring together experts, researchers, and students to discuss key topics such as open science, AI in research and society, science communication, and research funding opportunities. The event will also highlight challenges and opportunities both in transitioning from the Balkans to the EU for research and in returning to the Balkans for research opportunities. Interactive sessions, including workshops, world café discussions, and proposal writing training, will encourage knowledge-sharing and networking among participants.

Included are scientists, early career researchers, and students from the target countries Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia, with two external partners from Türkiye and Hungary, as well as from Germany.
When: 24. - 29. August (arrival day: 23.8., departure day: 30.8.)
Where: Neum (Bosnia-Herzegovina)
Format: Impulse talks in the morning, followed by intense World Café-style group discussion sessions in the afternoons, with a wrap-up presentation of each group in the evening.
DAAD provides the following support:
- Accomodation in a double room and half board will be fully covered.
- Travel expenses will be supported up to 130€ per person (in case you arrive by car, based on the kilometers, in case of public transport based on the receipts you hand in).
The application deadline is April 25, and the decision date is May 2.
